I was born and raised in Italy, and my name is Alessandro Novelli. I'm a creative and animation director who works in the advertising world and the animated short film industry. I studied graphic and digital design in Turin and New York before kick-starting my career as a designer at the awesome firm Superfad in NYC. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work in various studios across the EU and USA, taking on different roles along the way.
But you know what
I eventually decided to take the plunge and go independent working under the name of Newgold, focusing on the exciting intersection between brands and animated short stories.
What sets my work apart is its essential aesthetic and seamless movements. I strive to enhance the narrative of each project and bring genuine value to the audience. I believe that when the visuals and storytelling work together flawlessly, magic happens.
De Imperio
Trailer
De Imperio is the last chapter of a trilogy on human conditions entitled “Deconstruction”. After “The Guardian” and “Contact” , this last chapter explores the dynamics and relationships among Powers and society through a metaphoric surreal Universe. Created with a blend of traditional and digital 2D, 3D and acrylic painting, the 13 minutes short is now in distribution.

The Guardian

The Guardian is a free interpretation of the parable "Before the Law" from Kafka's book "The Trial".
A peasant after traveling the world arrives in front of a gate, controlled by a fearsome Guardian. The peasant tries to pass through but the Guardian denies him entrance.
Peasant and Guardian are the same character, the peasant, like each one of us, in front of his own fear; the guardian, something shapeless, that surround and control him The Gate the possibilities we encounter during our life.

Style development for one of the episodes of the original Amazon series: The World’s most dangerous show. Developed in collaboration with 27KM, I have directed, developed and overviewed the creation of all the animation segments included in the Black Rock episode. The main focus was the creation of a “journalistic” / investigation oriented style able to pivot on real images and documents and seamlessly integrate and move from and in the original videos.
